You can try the Read To Me function ON and OFF from both the Settings menu and the Chapter menu. Here is how:

From the Home menu, tap on the Settings option (Gear Wheel).

Tap on the button to turn it on or off as you would like. When you're finished, tap on the Home button.

From the Chapter menu, tap on the blue arrow at the top.

When the Chapter menu appears, tap on the button next to the Read To Me function to turn it ON and Off.

Then tap on the blue arrow again and the menu will disappear as the story continues.
